just curious for the nails that look similar to the fish braid, how thick is the polish on nails at the tip?
very thick! i put the top coat on the tip of my nail too to lock it in. it also took kind of a while to dry because of how thick it is but i think it’s totally worth it. check out the tutorial if you havent yet! thanks :)! xo
Hi Lauren. i must say yu have a great blog here yur nail art is wonderful. I also do nail art. I juss dont have a blog about it i used to bt not no more. bt anyways i was wondering if yu kno of any cool nail design websites cuz lately ive had a hard time deciding wat to do and i need some inspiration. I would realy appreciate it please & thanks yu.
hey! thank you so much! :) i really don’t use any specific website, i kinda use everything haha! i usually just look at other nail tumblrs and save designs that i like, sometimes when i get really desperate i search “nail art” on google images and see what i can find. recently though, whenever i go out, i constantly look for anything that can be inspiration. like patterns on clothing or notebooks or literally anything. then i just take a picture and look at all my pictures when i’m in need of a new design! thanks for your question and good luck! xoxo
Hey Lauren! Your blog and videos are great. I got a suggestion for you. I think it would be a good idea to add the colors/names of the nail polishes you use in the video descriptions as well. That way, if people see the colors you use and like how they turn out, they'll be more willing to try it themselves because they won't be surprised with the outcome (ha if that makes any sense at all). Plus I'm always looking to find new and fun nail polishes and any suggestions are great. Keep up the good work! :D
thanks so much for your suggestion!! i will definitely do that from now on. :) xo
Do you have any techniques for doing nail designs on your right hand? I'm right handed and my left nails always better than the ones on my right.
i go A LOT slower when painting my right hand, if you practice a lot you’ll eventually get better. rest your wrist on a table or whatever you’re working on to keep it stable. sometimes it makes it easier if while holding the paint brush in your left hand, you keep that hand completely still, and then move your right hand up to the paint brush and paint the design by moving your right hand.. do you get what i’m saying? good luck and thanks for your question! xo
Hey do your nails get yellow from painting them so much?
hey! actually they don’t. i think because i do them so often they don’t really have time to turn yellow cause i never have nail polish on for more than a few days without letting them breathe for maybe 15-20 mins and then redoing them. although, i don’t use a base coat which is bad because when i use dark polishes my nails get stained and then i have to buff them to get the color off completely. thanks for your question! :) xo
hi i'm back again XD. i have another question. how did you do this?:http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_le27kxWVoN1qzc24fo1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1294563886&Signature=oAypU1CnfxaA5WoBmEpsxXiY0Mg%3D
i really wanted to try it for some time but I have no idea how :/
YAY hi again :)! this one is kinda hard to explain like through words, i should probably just make a video for you, but i’ll try to explain it for now haha. okay basically i had all these different colors.. white, light blue, medium blue, dark blue, and then black. i painted my nails white. then next you need either like some sort of sponge or you could even use a piece of paper towel. paint a little bit of light blue onto the sponge and the dab it on the top of your nail and keep dabbing it all the way down but while still showing a little of the white. this will make a gradient effect. you might have to add a little more nail polish to the sponge until youre completely satisfied. then you take the medium blue and do the same thing, this time making sure you only go down so far so that you can still see the light blue and the white. then do the same thing with the dark blue and the black, and you should only have to put the black on the very tip! then i just covered it all with some sparkly polish.
does this make sense?! i hope so! if you try it make sure you show me a picture :)
i'm a nail fanatic, i have to admit. the moment i saw your tumblr, i went into a state of shock at how fantastic your nails are. i've actually been following you for some time but this is the first i posted a question to you, hehe. i wanted to ask though, any tips for doing nail art? my hands always shake when i try doing that :/
thank you sooo much! this made me so happy! :) about your hands, they could be shaking because you’re nervous, or because your blood sugar is low. like there’s actually been a few times where my hands will be shaking so i go eat some ice cream or something and when i come back my hands are better and not shaky.. lol! so you could try that. and i know it’s so cliche, but just practice. if there’s a difficult pattern that you want to do.. make a nail shape on a piece of paper and practice doing it a few times on there, even with markers or something, so that you know what youre doing. most intricate patterns are made by making a lot of really simple shapes.. so keep that in mind! i also have a really tiny paintbrush that i use to do really tiny designs, you can get one at any craft store and they help a lot! let me know if you have any more questions and good luck! xoxo
